In order to use the Braille Labeler, one does not need to know Braille, as the machine has its own built-in Braille translator. It can make labels in either the default grade 1 Braille (the simple Braille code) or grade 2 Braille, which contains contractions to make some words shorter.
To make the label, select the individual letters, numbers or punctuation marks using the touch key pad to spell out a message. You can also edit the message prior to printing (embossing), or save and retrieve up to 3 messages in the machine's memory for use at a later time.
The EL-110 embosses Braille onto specially designed transparent adhesive strips. There are 3 types of labeler tapes available: Type A, B and C. These tapes are 7, 15, and 25 Braille characters wide, respectively. The example shown above is a Type B (15 Braille Character) labeler tape that has been embossed.
One can use the Braille Labeler to add Braille to vending machines, medicine bottles and instructions at Hospitals and Drugstores, label account numbers and other information on important papers at financial institutions, for identification of common places inside buildings such as entrances, exits, stairways, room numbers, etc.
The EL-110 is also great for adding Braille to personal items such as music CD cases, telephones, keys and maps, the possibilities for its use are limited only by one's imagination. Shown here is a close up of a business card with the applied labeler tape indicating the company name in Braille.
